 INDONESIA
Sumatra Tano Batak

Micro-lot Natural

A rare Mandheling featuring natural processing. The distinctive earthy character typical of Sumatran coffee harmonizes beautifully with the sweetness of mango and rich dried tropical fruits, complemented by unique spicy nuances.

  • Area : Sumatra , Lintong
  • Farm : Small Producer
  • Variety : Jember,Ateng,Rasuna
  • Process : Natural
  • Elevation : 1400-1600m

Arabica coffee from Sumatra, also known as Mandheling, has long been appreciated by Japanese coffee lovers for its deep green beans and full-bodied flavor. In recent years, with the growth of the specialty coffee industry, it has also become highly popular in the U.S. market for its rich, full-bodied flavor.

The village of Lintong Nihuta is located south of Lake Toba in Sumatra. The area around Lintong is home to the Christian Batak people, who make their living through agriculture centered on coffee. The Batak consist of six ethnic groups with distinct languages: Toba, Karo, Simalungun, Pakpak, Mandailing, and Nias. “Tano Batak” means “land of the people.” For the diverse Batak communities, coffee is an important agricultural product they share, and they have passed down the traditional Sumatra processing method through generations.

This is a natural-process microlot of Tano Batak. High-sugar cherries were collected from the farmers who produce Tano Batak, then carefully dried for 25–35 days in a drying space inside a greenhouse. Its flavor combines Sumatra’s distinctive earthy and woody character with citric brightness, followed by an exotic tropical-fruit finish.

ETHIOPIA
Guju Uraga G1
“RASTA”

Fully Washed

Sweet notes reminiscent of white peach and passion fruit, accompanied by a bright, refreshing acidity reminiscent of citrus and green apple. The finish is long and lingering, with the sweet aftertaste becoming even more pronounced as the temperature changes.

  • Area : Nenesbo,Uraga,Guji
  • Farm : Small Producer
  • Variety : Ethiopian Heirloom
  • Process : Fully Washed
  • Elevation : 1900-2100m

Guji is located approximately 80 km southeast of Yirgacheffe, which lies about 400 km south of Addis Ababa—a drive of roughly seven to eight hours. During the day, temperatures range from 25 to 26°C and can drop to around 5°C at their lowest. The elevation ranges from 1,800 to 2,200 meters above sea level. In the mornings, a sea of clouds spreads across the landscape, creating a truly magical scene. The high elevation and wide temperature range allow the coffee cherries to mature slowly and develop a concentrated sweetness. The coffee is characterized by its rich, fruity flavor and fragrant aroma.

Within the Guji region, the Uraga area is particularly high in elevation and is known for producing high-quality coffee. BNT has continued its work in the area, producing quality coffee at its washing station in Nenesbo Village. The name “Rasta” is derived from Rasta Village, located along the route from Addis Ababa to Guji.
